No Need for Noisy Brakes
Check out our new Brake Bedding machine!
What is it?
Bedding in your disc brake is the act of heating up the brake pads and rotors to apply a thin and even coating of brake pad material onto the rotor. This coating on the rotor will improve the friction between the brake pads and rotor, resulting in more stopping power, and when done correctly will reduce braking noise.
Why do we do it!
Safety is the simplest answer. If your brakes aren’t working properly or as good as they can, you don’t have control over the bike that you should have. When you take a new bike home or out for a test ride, we want it to work properly without you having to break in the bike yourself. When the proper bed-in process is followed the brake will have a noticeable increase in stopping power and control with reduced brake noise. When the bed-in process is not done properly or done at all it will result in the brakes having less and inconsistent power, pulsing feeling in the levers, and increased noise.
How we do it!
To achieve consistent results, we use a Sinter Smart Bedding Machine. With this machine we can remove the variables of speed, brake force applied, and ambient temperature. By controlling these variables as much as we can, we assure bikes that we assemble, or repair have the best working brakes that they can have.
